About

In 1995/96 The Newport Cricket Club and the Digman Cricket Club agreed to a merger. It was, perhaps, a perfect marriage.

Both clubs had long standing associations going back many years.

Ross Homann was the inaugural President. A position Ross held for the next 6 years.

The first year of the merged entity saw the 1sts, 2nds and 3rds all make the grand final but unfortunately we did not taste premiership success this first season. The first premiership for the merged entity happened in 1996/7 when the 3rds were successful.

As all grassroots clubs know, having a strong junior program is very important. NDCC commenced our junior program in 1997 under John Spiteri and Ray Lawerson. This first team laid the foundation for all junior teams to follow and today, the club is proud to have 5 junior teams participating in the WRJCA.

Margaret Delahunty - Treasurer

Entering her 11th season as NDCC's Treasurer, Margaret has been a key part of NDCC ever since her son joined in 2007. When she's not balancing the books, Margaret can be seen running the Canteen, where she'll sometimes serve her famous Chicken Schnitzels. Margaret's financial ability should also being applauded, having led the club through difficult times during the COVID Pandemic.
